Dascha Polanco is having the best day ever! Or we should say, best week ever. The actress and social activist was honored in a big way on Aug. 8 when New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio officially named it Dascha Polanco Day.

The “Orange is the New Black” star received the proclamation dedication surrounded by friends, family and New Yorkers. By the looks of the celebration, it was an all out Dominican fiesta.
“Today was an honor to have the Mayor of NYC & the First Lady celebrate my culture,” Polanco wrote on Instagram. “It was a moment to embrace, they honored me today with a proclamation that today 8/8/2017 is Dascha Polanco Day in the City of NY. I’m so proud to be a Dominican raised in Brooklyn.”

But don’t feel bad if you missed your chance to celebrate Dascha Polanco Day because you’ll get a chance to honor the star on Sunday for New York City’s Dominican Day Parade.

Polanco will be riding on the Dominican Consulate’s float! Lucky lady.
We’ll be wavy to you, Dascha!
