Latino Celebs Extend Sympathies After Barcelona Terror Attack

Yesterday a van rammed through a touristy area in Barcelona, Spain, which resulted in the death of 14 people and injured many more. Authorities said that two terrorist attack occurred yesterday, one on Las Ramblas that killed 13 and another “previously unreported incident” that happened that evening in which another person had died at a house in Alcanar, south of Barcelona, CNN reports. By the end of the horrific day, five suspects were also dead.

The New York Times states that this attack in Barcelona is the deadliest terror attack they’ve experienced in a decade, however it’s just the latest in which a vehicle to cause major injury.

As soon as news broke about this attack, several Latinos — some that call Spain home — extended their sympathies to the people of Barcelona. One of those is Spain’s most prominent actresses, Penelope Cruz, sent out her message via Instagram.

CNN is reporting that the people killed and those injured hailed from at least 34 countries, and that government has “declared three days of mourning across Spain.”
