We love the work of photographer Diego Huerta. We’ve told you about the amazing images he takes of Mexico, reminding people that this country is beautiful in so many ways.
In 2016, he posted an image of the “most beautiful” girl in Mexico. Her name is Adriana and he said this about her: “In my journey through South Mexico, in a town locate in the middle of the Chiapas’ mountains I found the most brilliant eyes that I have ever seen. The beauty of this girl was similar to the panoramic views I was able to appreciate every time I turned around. She’s deaf, the way to communicate with her was by signs. It is no mystery that the beauty of the true Mexican woman is way above all beauty contests.”
As a photographer, Huerta has captured the most stunning images of Mexico, but this picture of Adriana captured the attention of the world.
Her eyes is what stunned most people. They’re illuminating and so wise. Her image, in particular, her eyes reminded people of another famous image.
In 1984, journalist Steve McCurry captured an image titled “Afghan Girl” and it’s truly iconic.
Photographer Diego Huerta didn’t lose sight of the Mexican girl that he captured so long ago. He updated his followers on what the most beautiful girl in Mexico looks like today. And naturally she is still as stunning as ever.
“México is more than Chapo Guzmán, tacos and Cinco de Mayo. México is more than you can imagine. México is bigger than any kind of wall, México is more than you can imagine,” Diego wrote on his Instagram.
We cannot get over how beautiful she is. And while we know that one person cannot define beauty for an entire country, Diego’s composition and subject is what makes his pictures of Adriana even more incredible to witness. For that alone, she is truly beautiful.
