Now that Cardi B has made her film debut in Hustlers, is TV next? While Cardi B has what it takes to be on television — after all, she’s had her fair share of reality TV appearances — she now might get the chance to star in a reboot of the ’90s sitcom The Nanny.

Created and produced by actress Fran Drescher (who also played its lead role) and her husband Peter Marc Jacobson, the comedy sitcom was heavily based on Drescher’s life growing up in Queens. The Nanny‘s plotline revolves around a Jewish nanny from Flushing, Queens who’s not only the best live-in nanny in town but she’s the most fashionable.

Now there’s talk of the show getting a reboot and Cardi B is in talks to be the star of the show. Since revealing in 2018 that she was considering a reboot of the show, Drescher has also mentioned Cardi B’s name through the press as the possible lead and we couldn’t think of anyone more perfect.

“That [the meeting] was just kind of laying out groundwork,” Drescher told Entertainment Tonight. “I do think she’s great, and she would be kinda like my top choice if she’s disciplined to do this show every week. It can be a grind, but she’s got a baby now and it could be a very comfortable, lovely way to, you know, work, be seen worldwide, and still do mini-concert tours when you’re on hiatus.”

Drescher adds that she’s been interested in Cardi B reviving her role as the Nanny at least since last year, and said that she would want to be on the show as well. Drescher would not play Fran as she did in the ’90s, but a whole new role that would fit the storyline along with Cardi B.

“We would have to write it for somebody else, which I would be excited to do actually,” she told the network. “I could play Sylvia, the mom. And John Leguizamo could play [Fran’s dad], Morty. So, you know, we’ll see. There’s a lot of opportunities to do something fantastic with it and bring it right into the 21st century.”

Okay, did she just put Leguizamo and Cardi together in a comedy series? We are so down for this. Not only is a reboot of The Nanny a great idea, but the show would add some much-needed diversity to the small screen.

While Cardi B hasn’t officially commented on the project or the possibility of switching gears from music and concerts to acting on TV, she has made several mentions of her style and compared it to Drescher. So clearly she’s a fan.
