Fall and winter are upon us, which means it’s time to pull out the coats from storage. But for countless of people, staying warm is actually a luxury. Thankfully, there’s organizations and people willing to help out and Cardi B is one of them. Last night the rap star showed up to the Marlboro Houses in Brooklyn to hand out free coats.
Cardi was supposed to show up at 5:30 p.m., according to a flyer, but didn’t arrive until 8:30-9 p.m. Hardcore fans waited nonetheless, even though according to some news outlets they ended up running out of coats.

“I think she’s unbelievable, and I think it’s great she’s doing this for the less fortunate,” Dana Spear told NBC. “This neighborhood really needs it,” another person waiting in line told NBC.
“IT WAS LIT IN MARLBORO TODAY ! My Hat @astonmartinchuck hit me up a couple of days ago about a coat giveaway we couldn’t believe how big this was and how many people pulled up, I wasn’t ready??!Thanks Marlboro! I shot RED BARZ & PULL UP ON ME out here. I will be back before the year end,” Cardi said on Instagram.
According to her Insta-story, Cardi said she didn’t realize she had a photoshoot scheduled for that same day, which ran long and made her hours late to the coat giveaway. But the fans that stayed for the artist were not disappointed.

“I want these kids to learn from me that you got to give back to the hood,” Cardi said to reporters, according to People magazine. “These kids follow me, these kids listen to my music.” “We’ve gotta set an example for the kids and the future,” Cardi said, according to PIX-11. “You know, sometimes people think that we just be doing the messed up things, but we really, really, really care for our kids, our community and everything.”
