New York Fashion Week isn’t all about fashion — but rather who has the most game. The whole point is to be seen, to make an entrance, and to get that hype. All of the thing aforementioned occurred over the weekend at the Harper’s Bazaar ICONS Fashion Week event where the stars of the night were Cardi B and Nicki Minaj.
Let us recap from the beginning.
Minaj arrived in an animal print gown and made quiet the entrance.
Cardi also attended in a stunning red ornate dress.
But the real showdown was once the ladies got inside.
The two had a heated exchange and according to several reports, Cardi went in on Minaj but security stopped her.
Here’s a report from Cosmopolitan:
“Reportedly, Nicki deliberately stepped on Cardi’s train, which led to a scuffle—Cardi got hit and part of her wig was pulled off. Then Cardi threw her shoe at Nicki—yes, you can see a shoe being removed in the video above, and hear a ‘thwack’noise as it makes contact with its intended target, or some poor security guard who had to take it.”
And here’s a video of Cardi taking off her shoe.
Cosmo also has images of the casualties: Cardi’s wig and Minaj’s nail. See, it did get brutal. While Minaj seemed unfazed by the whole thing, Cardi did explain why she attempted to fight Minaj. We should note that Cardi didn’t mention Minaj by name during her explanation, but she did post the following soon after the altercation.
“I’ve let a lot of shit slide!” Cardi said on Instagram. “I let you sneak diss me, I let you lie on me … But when you mention my child, you choose to like comments about me as a mother, make comments about my abilities to take care of my daughter is when all bets are fuckin off!! I’ve worked hard and come too far to let anybody fuck with my success!!!! Bitches talk about all that shit in they raps but in real life are pussy!!”
We’re pretty sure this fight is far from over, so we’ll just hang tight and wait for the next event because New York Fashion Week ain’t over.
Police are still investigating the altercation, so Cardi can just add this to her other legal woes.
Oh, and by the way, Minaj is liking tweets about the fight.
