We recently reported that Cardi B’s former manger was suing the rapper for $10 million dollars, now the Bronx star is counter suing him. Back in April, Cardi B’s ex-manager who goes by the name of Shaft (real name is Klenord Raphael), said the rapper owed him $10 million dollars because he said he was responsible for her success.
“Since discovering Cardi B in 2015, Shaft has played an integral role in developing her music career and public image,” a representative of Shaft said in April. “While he is proud of their successful collaborations as she evolved from Instagram influencer to music megastar, Shaft is disappointed by her actions to freeze him out of her career, which are detailed in the complaint. Shaft is confident that his lawsuit will validate his conduct and substantiate his legal claims.”
Well, we all knew that Cardi would not take this news lying down. The star is now countering suing him for $15 million dollars and her claims against are even worse than we could have imagined.
Yesterday new court papers detail Cardi’s allegations against Shaft. She claims her ex-manager tried to control her life. Page Six reports that Shaft tried to “maintain complete control over her…even attempting to control her personal life, telling her who she should and should not see romantically.”
Legal papers also show that Cardi claims her ex-manager used her money for “personal travel, entertainment and expenses.”
Cardi alleges that Shaft wanted 50 percent of her earnings and told her that was the standard rate between artists and managers. We are very curious to see how this is going to play out in the courts. We have a feeling, though, that a judge might just throw both these cases out.
