US Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez can’t run for president until 2024 but Cardi B has already endorsed her. The rapper voiced her support after a fan reposted a video of AOC speaking about affordable health insurance and her own journey with dental care. While “Bodak Yellow” plays in the background there’s the famous line “Got a bag and fixed my teeth” as AOC shows of her smile with a new retainer.

In the post, AOC shared that she couldn’t afford dental care before she was elected to Congress. “In other words, I got a bag and fixed my teeth. Except you shouldn’t need a bag to fix your teeth, get insulin, get healthcare,” she wrote in the post. “Everyone deserves this. Healthcare is a right. Medicare for all includes dental, mental, and physical health,” she added.

Cardi B reposted the tweet and wrote “She better run for president when she turns 35.” It’s not her first time endorsing a Democratic Socialist. Last year she endorsed Bernie Sanders for president and sat down with him to discuss issues including eliminating student debt, climate change, and raising the minimum wage.

AOC responded to Cardi’s endorsement by giving the rapper’s latest single “WAP” a new meaning: “Women Against Patriarchy (WAP) 2020,” she tweeted back.

Being politically engaged is nothing new for Cardi who has supported Sanders since 2016 and has invested time in learning about how the U.S. government works. “I love political science. I love government. I’m obsessed with presidents. I’m obsessed to know how the system works,” she said in a 2018 interview with GQ.  She’s also been vocal about her feelings toward Trump including when she posted a video in January of 2019 blasting him about the government shutdown: “This shit is crazy,” she said. “Like, our country is a hellhole right now, all for a f**king wall. And we really need to take this serious.”

Both she and AOC also called Trump out for not helping Puerto Rico in the wake of Hurricane Maria. Cardi tweeted, “Puerto Rico in crisis right now & Donald has not yet visited or talk about it .PR is part of the USA you know Don’t forget about the island.” While AOC said, “Trump tiene un odio personal con Puerto Rico,” which translates to “Trump has a personal hatred toward Puerto Rico.”

With their shared views and a mutual love for Bernie, they can dominate 2024 and give “WAP” a new meaning.
