One of the main tourist attractions in Mexico City is definitely Frida Kahlo’s La Casa Azul. The Blue House, located in the Colonia del Carmen neighborhood of Coyoacán in Mexico  — just 20 minutes from downtown, is a sanctuary of art and history that should not be missed.

The house itself is a work of art, and it’s stylized in true Frida form, but also in traditional Mexican allure. If you’ve ever dreamed of building your own Mexican hacienda just as Frida did, now you can.

Fireclay, a California-based company, has just debuted a new line of tiles specifically themed with our favorite painter. The line is called La Casa De Frida. The website states:

“Curated by our very first guest storyteller and talented showroom designer Sylvia Fajen, La Casa de Frida weaves together a tile-inspired tapestry that celebrate’s the artist’s love for lush florals, vibrant textiles, and whimsical folk art. Filled to the brim with rich blues, sun-kissed yellows, pastel pinks, and earthy oranges, these handcrafted hues take on an artful flair with bold geometric patterns.”

In an interview with Architectural Digest, Jamie Chappell, creative director at Fireclay Tile, explained their vision for creating tiles with a Frida Kahlo aesthetic.

“We challenged our team to approach tile through a new lens and curate inspiring assortments that respond to current trends without contradicting Fireclay’s belief that good design is one of our most sustainable assets,” Chappell told Architectural Digest. “La Casa De Frida is about the art of living. With Frida Kahlo as muse, this vibrant story brings together bold color and pattern inspired by the artist’s visionary work, personal style, and extraordinary life at Casa Azul.”

The Casa de Frida sample pack features 8 hand-picked colors that include the “vibrant azul walls,” “Earthy terra cotta floors,” “Bright pink blossoms,” among others.
