Demi Lovato is getting an outpouring of messages of love and support after news broke that she was hospitalized. It was reported yesterday that Demi was rushed to an L.A. hospital after a suspected overdose. It was initially reported by TMZ that signs looked as if she had overdosed on heroin. But now that the singer is “awake and alert” and saying it was not heroin. She won’t, however, confirm what she actually consumed before she was found unconscious. Demi is recovering at the hospital and her family is by her side.

“Demi is awake and with her family who want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers, and support,” Demi’s rep said in a statement to Variety. “Some of the information being reported is incorrect and they respectfully ask for privacy and not speculation as her health and recovery is the most important thing right now.”

TMZ also reported that law officers used Narcan on Demi, which is a medication that helps to reverse an opioid overdose quickly.

Friends, fans, and celeb pals took to social media to extend well wishes to the “Sober” singer. Her ex-boyfriend Wilmer Valderama was reportedly in shock over the news.

People magazine reports: “He knew she was going through a tough time but he wasn’t prepared for this,” the source told People. “He saw her through so many ups and downs and was her rock through some of her darkest moments. To see her back in such a sad and vulnerable place is heartbreaking for him.”

Another ex-boyfriend, Joe Jonas tweeted Demi: “Like all of you I am thinking of @DDLovato right now. She needs our prayers and support. We all know how strong you are Demi. #prayfordemi.” Lady Gaga tweeted, “We should all wrap our arms of love around Demi Lovato. I am so happy you’re alive. Thank God. If I know my monsters as well as I believe I do, we all wish you self-compassion and inner peace. And may you receive the love so many have for you. #ImConfidentInDemi Demi, I love you.”

Fans also shared their own personal stories of recovery, their struggle with drugs, and how Demi has helped them. Fans used the hashtag #HowDemiHasHelpedMe. @princessofsinss tweeted: “Her music helped me realized that it was okay to be broken. Her being honest about her problems helped me see I could be something other then a mental illness. I love you Demi.”

Update: Lovato’s fans gathered on Thursday so sing her song “Sober” at Atlantic City Beach, where she would had performed had she not been rushed to the hospital after an overdose. Fans have been demonstrating their love and support for the singer since the devastating news broke. According to CNN, Lovato will be seeking drug abuse treatment in rehab following her hospitalization.

Lovato’s representative released a statement regarding Lovato’s state. “Demi is awake and with her family, who want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers and support. Some of the information being reported is incorrect and they respectfully ask for privacy and not speculation as her health and recovery is the most important thing right now.”
