Sunday’s going to be a big day for Demi Lovato. The singer will be singing the National Anthem to countless people worldwide. While this is going to be a milestone in her life, Lovato recalls another unforgettable day. In an interview on Andy Cohen’s SiriusXM show Radio Andy, Lovato opened up about the day she came out to her family.

The 27-year-old has been somewhat vocal about her bisexuality, but now she’s sharing about what it was like to tell her mom and dad back in 2017.

“It was actually emotional but really beautiful,” Lovato told Cohen (the interview is below). “After everything was done, I was like shaking and crying. I just felt overwhelmed. I have such incredible parents. They were so supportive.”

She said that she was a bit more afraid to hear what her mom would say, but thankfully she was totally there for her daughter.

“My mom was the one that I was super nervous about, but she was like, ‘I just want you to be happy.’ And that was so beautiful and amazing. I’m so grateful,” she said.

In 2015, she talked about her bisexuality on TV during an interview with British late-night host Alan Carr after he asked her to explain if there was any truth to her hit song “Cool for the Summer.”

In the song, Lovato sings, “Tell me what you want/ What you like/It’s okay/ I ‘mma little curious too/ Tell me if it’s wrong/ If it’s right/ I don’t care/ I can keep a secret could, you?” and “Got a taste for the cherry/I just need to take a bite/Don’t tell your mother/ Kiss one another.”

She told the TV host, “I’m not confirming, and I’m definitely not denying,” E! News reports. “All of my songs are based off of personal experiences. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with experimentation at all.”

We love that Lovato is expressing herself in a new and invigorated way. But we were a bit thrown off over the news that Wilmer Valderrama was engaged after only dating his girlfriend for eight months. and weren’t sure how Lovato was going to take the news. But after she expressed that she was happy for the couple, it was all about moving on and moving forward.

We’re also hyped to see her shine on stage at the Super Bowl LIV show where she will be singing the National Anthem. She’s made a serious comeback!

We’re cheering for you, Demi!
