Thank You, Ellen DeGeneres, For Standing up With DREAMers!

With everything that has been going on with the Trump administration ever since the president took office, it’s sometimes hard to keep track of the news and what is worse right now. Is it the Republican party trying to completely demolish the Affordable Care Act? Is it the terrible response to Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico? For those of us who are immigrants or children of immigrants, though, it’s likely what is happening with the DACA program as Congress works on figuring out what comes next.
Amidst all of the confusion, however, it is nice to see the support that DACA has received from notaries and celebrities alike—including the latest star to stand up for DREAMers (the estimated 800,000 recipients of the Deferred Action for Child Arrivals): Ellen DeGeneres.
According to People, the host of The Ellen DeGeneres Show wore a black t-shirt with the words, “We are all dreamers.” She even Instagrammed the image with the caption: “You may say I’m a dreamer. But I’m not the only one. #DreamAct“, a take on The Beatle’s song “Imagine.”
Unsurprisingly, fans are rejoicing at this incredible show of support from one of the country’s top talkshow hosts. As an immigrant myself, I couldn’t be more grateful at this love. We need more
