JLo to Star in New Netflix Rom-Com ‘Office Romance’
Jennifer Lopez continues to prove she's a rom-com queen with her latest project
Jennifer Lopez has undoubtedly been having an exciting year in film. Earlier this year, it was reported that she will produce a Bob the Builder film starring Anthony Ramos, as well as the film adaptation of Emily Henry’s novel Happy Place. Additionally, she starred in This Is Me…Now: A Love Story, her musical film on Amazon Prime, which she co-wrote as well as the accompanying documentary, The Greatest Love Story Never Told and the sci-fi Netflix film Atlas. Next up, she is slated to star in their next film, Office Romance, a rom-com that pairs her up with Brett Goldstein, best known for his role on the hit TV show Ted Lasso. The film will be distributed by Netflix, which won after an intense bidding war, according to Deadline. Lopez is no stranger to the rom-com genre having starred in Monster-in-Law, The Wedding Planner, and Maid in Manhattan.
“This is going to be fun!!!” JLo said in an Instagram story sharing the news.
More details about the film, including the plot and other casting decisions, have not been announced yet. However, it was announced that Goldstein is co-writing the film with writer Joe Kelly known for his work on Deadpool and Spiderman. As part of Nuyorican Productions’ multi-year first-look deal with Netflix, it will also be produced by Lopez, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, and Benny Medina.
JLo will next be seen in Unstoppable, a sports drama film following the real-life story of wrestler Anthony Robles (played by Dominican and Haitian American actor Jharrel Jerome), who was born with one leg and became a champion athlete. Lopez portrays Anthony’s mother, Judy, and recently received a standing ovation for her performance. It will have a limited theatrical release starting on December 6, 2024.
She is currently filming Kiss of the Spider Woman, a musical film based on the 1992 stage musical and the novel of the same name by Manuel Puig. Lopez will star in the title role alongside Diego Luna, whose character forms an unlikely bond with a Marxist in an Argentinian prison in 1981 during the Dirty War.
No release date for Office Romance has been announced.
