Did you know that May’s full moon, a.k.a. Flower Moon, is named as such to represent the springtime flowers that bloom this month? This month’s full moon is on May 29th and will actually peak in the morning, around 10:20 a.m. EST, according to Almanac.com. The full moons were named by Native American tribes to help keep track of the seasons.

So while the flowers may be blooming in all their glory, you might start to feel a bit spirituality challenged, according to chakra certified and reiki healer Annie The Alchemist, because this month’s moon is going to be a time to create stability in preparation for the year ahead. Why? Because this month’s moon is connected to Taurus, which deals with security and grounding earth energy. So if you haven’t been feeling aligned, now is that time to get yourself situated.

Start with concrete rituals like writing down your intentions, which are tangible and not as overwhelming as tweaking that vision board or editing those resolutions from the new year. Grab a journal, take a deep breath and write down what you deeply desire for the rest of the year.

Ask yourself, “What do I want to do for the rest of 2018?” says Annie The Alchemist. “There will be a lot of shifts in helping us create that foundation,” she adds. “Don’t forget to whip out the sage and clear away old energy in your space and yourself and charge your crystals by the moonlight, like red jasper for grounding.”

Quite possibly the most important piece of advice when it comes to each month’s full moon, besides being more self-aware, is to be ridiculously specific with your intentions. For example, replace “I want to travel more” with “I want to go to New Orleans in 2018 but not pay for it.” See what happens, the universe might surprise you, because the universe responds to details.

“Leading up to the full moon you may be sleeping and crying because it affects the body. But crying is a release of old energy. The sleeping can feel heavy, waking up at 2 a.m. or 3 a.m. and feeling tired,” Annie says. “But after the new moon arrives we will all feel more energized and balanced.”

We are almost halfway through the calendar year, so it’s normal to feel as if you have to reassess your goals. It’s time to manifest what we want for the rest of the year. Keep in mind that in grounding yourself, you may feel a shift taking place, but that’s normal. If you feel a shift, it’s for a reason, so be kind to yourself when you are doing through something new, like an awesome but super uneasy spiritual shift.
