On the same week that Kacey Musgraves paid tribute to Selena Quintanilla, another artist has done so as well. Performing at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is a big deal, especially when you’re filling the shoes of the late Tejano singer. Let’s be real that it is virtually impossible to do; however, Musgraves did a stellar job, and Prince Royce did too. The Bachata singer also performed at the Houston Rodeo on the 24th anniversary week of Selena’s performance and even sang one of our favorite Selena songs. Prince Royce did a cover of “No Me Queda Mas” and had fans loving every moment of it.

Selena’s historical performance on Feb. 26, 1995, broke the record of most fans at Houston Astrodome, with 64,831 fans attending her show. Prince Royce’s concert at the Rodeo had 55,000 people, not bad at all. Selena’s family, including her sister, had some beautiful words for Prince Royce and his beautiful tribute. “Wow how awesome!! 2 days in a row! Today is definitely a mark in history for one of the most Iconic concerts of SELENA Y LOS DINOS! Thank you @princeroyce for celebrating the 24th Anniversary of our last concert @houston.rodeo,” Suzette Quintanilla said on Instagram.

“Miles gracias a @princeroyce por rendir tributo a nuestra Selena en este 24° Anniversario del concierto Astrodome en Houston.  A special thanks to Prince Royce for paying homage to Selena on this 24th Anniversary of the Houston Astrodome concert,” Selena’s official Instagram page said.

So what did fans have to say?

@KPRC2Cathy tweeted: “BEAUTIFUL tribute to #Selena by @PrinceRoyce!! 2nd night in a row. These artists know how much she meant to Houston.” @abbydeleon14 tweeted: “last night Prince Royce did a tribute for Selena’s anniversary of her final concert on Feb.26, 1995 in Houston… and it’s the most precious thing <3. For @BriannaDenee_, the performance was such a surprise that they had an actual accident. “Soooo yesterday when @PrinceRoyce was about to start Selena’s song. My husband dropped my damn credit card in COW SHIT. (Listen at the end).” The Houston Rodeo is an actual rodeo, which means animal poop.

Here’s the entire performance below.
