Rihanna’s Fenty empire is on fire. From her beauty line to her lingerie collection, Fenty’s reign on the world has just begun. So, it’s only natural that RiRi would want to name an ambassador to her Savage X Fenty line because she can’t do it all. Yesterday, the pop star announced that Normani would be Savage X Fenty’s first-ever brand ambassador.

I was very excited and really honored, especially that the ask came from Rihanna herself,” the former Fifth Harmony member said in an interview with Vogue. “I know that this is her passion project, something she genuinely and wholeheartedly believes in and cares about, and the fact that she wanted me to be a part of that meant a lot to me. She is somebody I’ve looked up to for a very, very long time. She’s had so much influence on me in terms of pop culture and as a woman, but also in terms of how she’s able to do things gracefully while being cutting edge, being bold, pushing the needle, and changing the narrative.”

Rihanna has indeed changed the narrative with her Fenty company. Her lingerie fashion shows have always included models of color and models with different body types, which is a breath of fresh air in the fashion industry. Normani was also a featured model in the Savage X Fenty fashion show during New York Fashion Week in September. Obviously, RiRi liked what she saw because here we are today.

The announcement that Normani is the brand ambassador comes on the heels of a monumental year for the artist. After going solo in 2015, the Atlanta native exploded with a slew of hit singles, including her collaboration with Calvin Harris, Khalid, and Sam Smith. Her new position at Fenty will clearly only enhance her career. The singer said she is looking forward to 2020 so fans can finally get their hands on her new album.

“I’m really excited for my fans to hear it because they’ve been very patient with me, and they’ve been there since the beginning of my journey—and my new fans too,” Normani said to Vogue. “I’ve been using these new sessions as therapy and as an opportunity for me to know myself in a different way. I can’t wait for everybody else to be able to tap into that and get to know the real me.”

We love seeing this collaboration between two strong and fierce singers. Congrats, Normani!
