Rita Moreno turns 86 today! On this special birthday, we’d like to gift you the many ways she has brought pure joy into our world. First, let us say that while this Puerto Rican legend has been slaying for more than half a century, Moreno has not stopped entertaining audiences since she was 11-years-old! This living queen got her first Broadway role at age 13 and she has not looked back since. It’s pretty remarkable when you think about how long Moreno has been part of show business and was never one of those celebrities that just disappears.
Aside from her role as Lydia Riera on “One Day At A Time,” audiences will see her in the anticipated remake of West Side Story, directed by Steven Spielberg. After initially saying no to any involvement in the remake, Moreno agreed to starring a new role after a request from Spielberg.
“Never in my wildest dreams did I see myself revisiting this seminal work,” she said. “And to be asked by Steven Spielberg to participate is simply thrilling!”
According to Yahoo, Moreno has been in eight Broadway productions, starred in more than 46 movies and 50 TV shows, and is one of the very few who is an EGOT winner, which means she has won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony.
Here’s just a few moments in Moreno’s life and career that has left of breathless and inspired.
Thank you, Rita for your amazing body of work, and even more for representing Latinas through and through.
Rita is simply stunning!
Rita with so much poise.

Happy 87th birthday to the dynamic actress, singer, and dancer Rita Moreno (1931- ) 💖💖💖. The Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony winner is still very active (not to mention beautiful…scroll for a 2018 photo of her wearing the same gown she wore to the 1962 Academy Awards) and shows no signs of slowing down. Widowed with one daughter, I certainly hope she has a very happy, healthy year ahead!!! 💖💖💖 #ritamoreno #happybirthday #87 #87yearsyoung #oldhollywood #vintagehollywood #classichollywood #classicactress #vintageactress #oldhollywoodactress #singer #dancer #egot #emmywinner #grammywinner #oscarwinner #tonywinner #theydontmakeemlikethatanymore #buttheydonthaveto #becauseshesstillhere

Happy Birthday Rita Moreno!🎉 The living legend that is Rita Moreno is 87 years old today! She is an icon of Hollywood for her groundbreaking performance as Anita in the classic musical West Side Story. Rita was the first Latina to receive an Academy Award but also one of the few to have gained the EGOT. Now Steven Spielberg is remaking the film and has even created a role especially for Rita! Rita is so talented and no doubt her performance in the remake of West Side Story will be just as brilliant as it was in the original 1961 film. "From our earliest discussions, we wanted to include Rita Moreno in our production. Her Anita is one of the greatest musical performances ever filmed, and a personal favourite of mine. We created an original role for her, and we feel beyond fortunate that Rita will bring her extraordinary gifts as an actress, as well as her deep understanding of West Side Story to this production as an executive producer.” —Director Steven Spielberg🧡🎶🌸 #ritamoreno
