Aventura Set to Drop New Music for the First Time in 10 Years
Romeo Santos dropped a bombshell of an announcement on Tuesday
Romeo Santos dropped a bombshell of an announcement on Tuesday. After 10 years, beloved bachata group Aventura is releasing new music — and fans are excited about the quartet reuniting.
The bachata singer took fans on a bit of an emotional rollercoaster before sharing the reunion news. Santos posted a photo of himself naked with the Aventura logo at the top and the word “Inmortal” at the bottom, informing fans that a new single would drop at 9 p.m. ET on Monday.
But no single was released at the given time, disappointing many Santos stans who assumed it was an April Fool’s Day joke. He confirmed the news in an apology video later that day. “I want to apologize to you all for the bad joke I made,” shared Santos. “As you all can see, I’m not releasing a new Aventura single tonight.”
However, fans “didn’t pay attention,” according to him.
In yet another video, published the next day, a message appears before a clip: “…the joke and my apology were because I didn’t [release the single] on said date and time. The jokes are over.” The video then shows all four Aventura members — Henry Santos, Lenny Santos, Max Agende Santos, and Romeo — together again, and a snippet of the single “Inmortal” playing in the background. Each member is tagged in the caption, and the Aventura frontman confirms the single will appear on his new album Utopia, which is set to debut on streaming platforms this Friday, April 5.
“Inmortal” comes 10 years after Aventura’s final album The Last, which was released in 2009. Though the iconic boy band broke up in 2011, we can’t help but wonder if they’ll reunite for good this time. Aventura briefly reunited in February 2016 for a concert. We’ll have to wait and find out. In the meantime, we’ll be counting the hours until the new album finally drops!
