We Predict That Forever21’s New Selena Collection Will Sell out Fast

It’s been over 20 years since our beloved Selena Quintanilla passed and yet her spirit still lives on through her very loyal fan base. In honor of Selena and her legacy, mega-retailer Forever21 has launched Selena The White Rose collection to celebrate the Tejano songstress. Marking Selena’s 24th anniversary on March 31 and the film’s 22nd anniversary today, the capsule collection features graphic tees, hoodies, biker shorts, and accessories that incorporate Selena’s iconic imagery along with her famous quotes and songs. Get ready to do some shopping!

The best part is, the collection is pretty affordable, featuring items that retail from $7-$40, making it accessible to all Selena fans. I’ve seen quite a bit of Selena merch in my time but I have to admit, this nostalgic launch is hands down one of the coolest collections I’ve seen. It’s not just a bunch of graphic tees with Selena’s imagery but also fun accessories and complimentary pieces like a pair of adorable Queendom Bamboo Hoop earrings that instantly brings me back to the ‘90s.  There’s even stuff for guys in here!

Selena’s sister Suzette Quintanilla even took to Instagram to let fans know she’ll be at the Forever21 The White Rose Collection meet and greet in California this Saturday.

Selena Cropped Tank Top

As adorable as the front of this ribbed knit tank top may appear, the back is what had me sold. It features a list of some of Selena’s musical hits including, “Como La Flor,” “Amor Prohibido,” “Si Una Vez,” Bidi Bidi Bom Bom,” “I Could Fall In Love,” and “Dreaming of You.” In other words, the best of the best from some of her top albums. Here’s why I love this top though: The “Selena” logo graphic with a rose gives off a crisp, minimalist vibe that’s clean and not too over-the-top. While the racerback, scoop neckline, and cropped hem give off a very ‘90s fashion feel. Rock with a pair of high-rise denim shorts or mom jeans for a spring look that feels all kinds of nostalgic.

Como La Flor Graphic Tee

Here’s a knit graphic tee that’s easy to rock. The flocked front “Como La Flor” text graphic along with the rose, tells us everything we need to know without having to feature Selena’s face. I especially love the way ‘90s Old English font looks in red against a black tee. Wear it with a pair of ripped high-waisted blue jeans or white denim for a look that feels cool and casual. Or dress it up with a leopard-print mini skirt and a pair of ankle cowgirl boots that would make any Mexicana from Texas proud. You really can’t go wrong with this one.

Selena Cropped Hoodie

I’m personally pretty obsessed with this cropped hoodie. Similar to the Como La Flor Graphic Tee, this one gives me serious ‘90s Chicana vibes and I’m all for it. I love everything from the colors to the raw-cut rolled cropped hem. But the featured quote is probably my favorite detail. It’s a quote Selena was well known for saying. It reads: “I believe the impossible is always possible.” So there you have it, a cute Selena-inspired hoodie with a positive motivational quote to start your day on the right foot. What more could we ask for?

Selena Graphic Joggers

For all the athletic leisure fans out there, this one’s for you. These cool graphic joggers pair perfectly with the Selena Cropped Hoodie and look comfy AF. They are made with fleece and feature on-seam pockets, a drawstring waist (I love this), and an elasticized hem. A“Como La Flor” text graphic goes down just one leg but anything more would be entirely too much. Rock with your favorite pair of kicks — I’d recommend some old school high-top converse sneakers — and your favorite fanny pack and you’re good to go. Anyone else as obsessed as I am with this look?

Queendom Bamboo Hoop Earrings

Every Latina — most of us anyway — rocked big gold hoop earrings at some point in our lives. It’s practically a right of passage. While I was more into the large but thin 3-inch hoops, bamboo gold hoops with your name written across was definitely a thing back in the day especially amongst Latinas living in NYC and LA. This Forever21 pair is everything though. The faux polished gold and the Queendom text in Old English font totally gives off Latina queen vibes. I’m not mad at the price point either.

Selena Halter Top

This sexy stretch-knit halter top is a perfect pick for spring and summer. The allover printed graphics of the Tejano singer gives it a nice vintage touch. With a crop top like this, you don’t really need to do much in terms of styling. Rock it with a pair of high-waisted black jeans — similar to the ones Selena used to wear — or a hight-waisted skirt with a pair of ankle booties or mules and you’re all set. A faux leather cabbie hat and a pair of big hoop earrings wouldn’t hurt either. I’m just saying.

Who said guys can’t get in on all this Selena fashion fun? The allover printed graphic of Selena from the halter top is also featured in this cute and comfy men’s hoodie. The 100% polyester sweat shirt includes a drawstring hood, dropped shoulders, long sleeves, a kangaroo pocket, and ribbed trim. Because male Selena fans deserve some fun options too. This would look so cool paired with shorts and a pair of vintage sneakers. Am I right?

I’m not done here. The printed graphic is also featured on a pair of male print shorts and they are SO cute! This one might take a bit more creativity and swag to rock but with the right complementary pieces and a confident attitude, these shorts could lead to a very dope look. I’d recommend keeping it simple with a black tee and a pair of white sneakers. With a print design as loud and colorful as this one, you really don’t have to do too much. One accessory too much could easily take this from chic to over-the-top.

There’s no shortage of graphic tees in this creative capsule collection. I especially love the featured images of the singer that include photos from some of her most popular shoots and covers. The soft pastel colors give it a fun, spring vibe while the imagery makes it feel very classic and vintage. You can probably get away with wearing this pretty much with anything in your closet. I was totally digging this graphic tee when I first laid my eyes on it, mainly because it’s one of my favorite images of Selena. It perfectly captures her iconic look that consisted of blown out dark hair, big gold hoop earrings, and a red lip. In fact, I’d definitely recommend sporting this tee with big gold hoop earrings and red lipstick in honor of the late Tejano singer and to really do this style justice. This is another one I’m seriously tempted to add to my shopping cart. Fortunately, it’s under 20 bucks.

This men’s fleece knit hoodie is one of my favorites in the Selena The White Rose Collection. It’s another piece that looks just as cool on the back as it does on the front. The front features an artistic printed graphic of the Tejano singer while the back reveals a “Selena” graphic text with a graphic of a rose that sort of reminds me of a Mexican loteria card. Seriously, how creative is that? I’d totally rock this on a cooler day in spring.

Self-tie crop tops are going to be huge this spring, so might as well get one that honors Selena too, right? It comes in the singer’s signature purple and features a “Selena” printed chest graphic on the left corner. This is perfect for the girl who wants to take her crop top to the next level and isn’t afraid of looking a little extra. Wear as you please but I’d def suggest adding a red lip to pull this entire look together.

Here’s another great graphic sweatshirt option. I love the way the graphic Selena image pops against that bright red color. The quote on the back, of course, brings it all up a notch. It features the same text we saw in a previous piece. It reads: “I believe the impossible is always possible.” This quote might become my new 2019 mantra and this sweatshirt might become part of my next outfit. You really can’t go wrong with a piece that looks that good and it’s probably super cozy. Tell me not!

I personally love that biker shorts have come back in style. They give off a sporty vibe that’s just as much classic ‘90s as it is athletic leisure. But considering how popular they were when Selena was around, it only makes sense to include one in the capsule collection, no? These knit biker shorts feature a noticeable but stable “Selena” printed graphic on the hip along with a rose that’s super cute and very “Como La Flor.” You can rock it with any of the graphic tees or sweatshirts from the collection or keep it simple with a white cropped tee and sneakers. I vote for the latter.
