Selena Gomez and Mother Unfollow Each Other On Instagram

When you unfollow someone on any social media platform it speaks volumes. At the very least, an unfollow says “I don’t want to know what’s going on with this person.” But what if the person doing the unfollowing is your mother or your daughter? That message is louder than words. That seems to be the case between Selena Gomez and her mother Mandy Teefey. Is their current rift — regarding Selena and Justin Bieber’s renewed relationship — causing that much heartache? All signs point to yes.

According to news outlets, fans noticed that mother and daughter weren’t following each other on Instagram after Mandy was taken to the hospital less than two days ago. TMZ reports that on Dec. 19, Mandy was taken to the hospital after a police officer did a welfare check at the request of a family member. TMZ reports:

“Sources with direct knowledge of the incident tell us Mandy had a heated convo with Selena that day about the reunion with Justin. When Selena revealed she and JB were in couples therapy, Mandy flipped … realizing the relationship was going to be more long-term than she thought.”

We’re not sure when the unfollow actually occurred but as of now they are not. The move is kind of bizarre because Selena rarely posts anything about her love life, it’s mostly her and friends, so could Mandy be that bothered by her?

Two days ago, Mandy posted a beautiful Instagram post honoring her daughters Selena, Gracie, and Scarlett who died during a miscarriage.

“Family is what matters, blood or not,” Mandy wrote. “Fans, I want you to know you are family because I have a huge family and you are the only ones who remember! XO forever. Thank you to the people who respected my post and sent love to Scarlett.”

Before that post, Mandy hadn’t posted an image of Selena since September. Selena posted a similar image of her mother on Instagram in October and tagged her as well.
