Vanity Fair just dropped their August cover and it looks vaguely familiar. The cover star is none other than Serena Williams in full pregnancy mode. She looks incredible wearing nothing at all but a gold belly chain. This naked and pregnant, profile pose — shot by photographer Annie Leibovitz — is almost identical to a 1991 cover of Demi Moore.

That famous magazine cover was also featured in Vanity Fair and was also shot by Leibovitz. We compared the two images, and while both woman are completely nude and only have a jewelry accessory (Moore wore earrings), Williams’s image will go down in history for vastly different reasons.

Moore’s was groundbreaking because it showed a very famous actress pregnant and naked woman on a magazine cover. But Williams’s entire photo spread is outstanding because she’s a groundbreaking athlete and a woman of color. This in itself is amazing.

People on social media were floored to see Williams in such an iconic pose — and she’s clearly taking the throne.

Of her pregnancy, Williams said this: “If you would have told me last year in October or November that I would have a baby, not be pregnant but have a baby, I would have thought you were the biggest liar in the world. This is kind of how I am right now. This is happening sooner than later, and it’s going by so fast.”

We’re so happy for her and her fiancé Alexis Ohanian. Congrats!
