Tom Ford Names Lipstick After Cardi B, It Sells Out Immediately
Cardi B isn’t losing any sleep or checks after Friday night’s run in with Nicki Minaj
Cardi B isn’t losing any sleep or checks after Friday night’s run in with Nicki Minaj. Tom Ford announced its new Cardi B-inspired lipstick shade on Saturday, and less than 24 hours later the Bronx rapper reported in an Instagram post the $36 lipstick was sold out.
Named “Cardi,” the metallic, near-royal blue shade is part of Tom Ford’s Boys & Girls collection, which includes hues named after women — and some men — that the designer admires. As one of the latest Tom Ford celeb namesake colors, she joins stars like legendary model Naomi Campbell, fashion editor Carine Roitfeld and Grammy Award-winning artist Drake.
The blue shade was unveiled along with the rest of the new collection backstage at Ford’s spring 2018 runway show, where the “Get Up 10” rapper sat front row.
The Tom Ford Beauty Instagram account posted a photo of a blue lip print and the caption “Meet Cardi,” sparking thousands of comments, some of which expresses disappointment in the brand’s move to name a lippie after Cardi.
One thing’s for certain: The rap superstar continues to make money moves.
