If you’re anything like me, you see the new year as an opportunity to learn new things. Still, with such hectic schedules, it can be hard to enroll in classes or even make time to take a live online course. That’s why last year, I decided to take the plunge and try MasterClass.

The ads for it always enticed me, particularly their instructors, including Simone Biles, José Andres, and Margaret Atwood. Since I was starting to write a novel, I knew the writing courses would come in handy, but after a year of trying the subscription, I’ve used it for much more than becoming an author.

Here’s why I think MasterClass is totally worth the hype—and why you’ll love it, too.

The courses are short and sweet

Time is important to all of us, especially when we’re out here trying to rule the world one chingona move at a time. That’s one of the things I love most about MasterClass. Even though each course is different depending on the instructor, the videos are about five to 15 minutes tops. This is something I loved, especially because as a working woman, every minute counts in the day, and learning something new takes some effort.

Each course brings a workbook with exercises so you can master each lesson. Aside from the writing courses I took with authors like Dan Brown and Amy Tan, I also took some business and cooking courses where the workbook came in incredibly handy. I was able to take the courses and stay refreshed on the subjects while practicing. It also helped to have the recipes written so I could remember them while mastering each technique.

Finally, something else I loved was how interactive and engaging each course is. Instructors really take the time to share their passion with you, drawing you in with their wealth of information. One course that did this wonderfully was Esther Perel’s “Relational Intelligence” series, where she teaches everything from setting boundaries to understanding and resolving conflicts. It was a course that truly made me look back into my family tree, analyze pieces of my cultura that affected how I relate to others, and think of ways to improve my relationships.

MasterClass has Latino instructors like Christina Aguilera, Gabriela Cámara and Robin Arzón

Latinos are leaving a trail everywhere they go, and that’s evident from the teachers on MasterClass. From food to sports, the site has courses from incredible masters in our comunidad.

Let’s start off on a high note with Christina Aguilera. As part of the “Sessions” series, the Grammy Award winner’s class is called “Elevate Your Singing and Stage Presence.” You can learn her vocal warm-up, pick the right songs for your voice, and even deliver a performance like a genia.

Now, if you’re more of a cocinera, Mexican chef Gabriela Cámara gives you the ins and outs of Mexican cooking. Yes, you can even learn how to make masa from scratch using ancestral techniques brought straight to your cocina. If you want to kick it up a notch and take your cooking skills to a Michelin-star level, then join James Beard winner José Andrés as he cooks up amazing dishes while connecting with other chefs worldwide.

For the fashionista in your life, Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim, AKA, the co-creative directors behind Oscar de la Renta, are here to help you bring ideas to life while honing the powers of collaboration. And of course, for that fitness inspiration, Peloton head instructor Robin Arzón brings the principles of endurance and strength from the gym to everyday life.
