As yoga becomes more a part of our lives, the more we create new forms of the practice, or add embellishments to enhance our experience. Williamsburg and other neighborhoods in New York City rich in creatives have seen a stream of new yoga studios pop up that add their own twists. From aerial yoga to including hip-hop into the yoga practice, here are seven innovative yoga studios in the area.
Incorporating a fun and open atmosphere, the Laughing Lotus with one location in Williamsburg and the other in Manhattan offers mild, medium, and spicy style classes. Unlimited Monthly membership in both locations is $149/month, 10 Class Card for $180 or other single class prices. BUT start off with a $39 Monthly Unlimited from Groupon. (Williamsburg location only.)
One innovative aspect is their Online Classes monthly subscription for $15/month. The Bushwick studio’s class schedule is a much freer curriculum, offering fun ways to explore the body through yoga, pilates, and even aerial yoga! Whereas in Williamsburg, the space is used for a slightly more traditional practice through Flow & Restore, Power Vinyasa, Reiki Restorative Yoga, and different levels of Vinyasa.
Start off with a $40 first month unlimited introductory and $69 per month after. Aerial classes in Bushwick are a different price—$20 for one class and $75 for five classes. Studio mats, blankets, blocks, and straps are available at no charge.
