Last year Latina Rebels founder, Prisca Dorcas Mojica Rodriguez, spontaneously started the hashtag #LatinxGradCaps after a follower texted her an image of her decorated graduation cap. Needless to say with so much racial tension going on in this country against Latinos, the inspiring image and hashtag went viral.
Many more Latinx used the hashtag to show off their pride for their culture, to express their profound gratitude to their parents, and to prove, that, yes, Latinx are capable of so much. These Latinx students from around the country are posting images of their graduation attire, and it’s more than inspiring, it’s pretty emotional.
This year the tradition continues, and the graduation caps are more elaborate than ever. Now if you don’t have a creative bone in your body but still want to shine on graduation day, there are artists out there that can make a cap for you!
Artist Theresa Michelle Flores creates custom lettering for graduation caps and sells them on Etsy. What an amazing idea, especially for us that artfully challenged.
