On the 23rd anniversary of Selena Quintanilla‘s death, the heartbreak of her loss hasn’t gotten any easier for her loved ones. Her fans, family, and friends all remembered the late Tejana singer on March 31 with beautiful pictures and touching words.

One such post came from Chris Perez, Selena’s widower. Perez remarried and had two kids after Selena’s death, however, that marriage ended in divorce. It seems Perez has never really gotten over the death of Selena. The musician continues to post images and memories about Selena as if he lost her just yesterday.

That is what makes his post on the anniversary of her death even more heartbreaking.

“Although we all have our trials and tribulations that we have to go through in this life…We MUST be thankful for the ones that we meet along the way…that made us realize…love is REAL…love is UNCONDITIONAL…love NEVER DIES. #MyCoco.”

The hashtag #mycoco was particularly interesting because we assume he’s talking about the film Coco. The reference to #mycoco could be that this is his loss, just as Miguel’s loss in the film was his grandmother, Coco. Either way, it’s very moving how unforgettable his love for her continues to endure.

Perez also posted a picture of his guitar with the caption: “On behalf of myself and my best friend in the whole wide world…Giving a BIG THANK YOU for all the well wishes today. #SelenaForever.”

Here’s a couple of more images from Selena’s sister and her brother.
