When I show you how easy it is to make your own fabric softeners at home, you won’t believe how much money you’ll save and the incredible results you’ll achieve. You may never want to buy a story bought softener again.
1. Vinegar

4 cups of white vinegar and a few drops of tea tree oil is all you need to make this fabric softener. You can store it in a plastic bottle or a jar. Before you use it, be sure to shake your fabric softener well (due to the density difference oil and vinegar separate.) You only have to add ¼ cup of this fabric softener to the rinse cycle of your washing machine.

2. Epsom Salt
In a glass jar with a lid, add 2 cups of Epson salt and a few drops of tea tree oil. Label the jar. When it comes to washing your clothes, add ¼ cup the rinse cycle of your washing machine.

3. Vinegar and baking soda.
I can’t stop pondering the wonderful uses of vinegar and baking soda at home. In a bowl add 2 cups of hot water and 1 cup of baking soda. Carefully, add 2 cups of white vinegar. Since baking soda reacts to the vinegar, adding the vinegar slowly will prevent from spilling. Store in a jar with a lid. Shake well before using (baking soda doesn’t completely dissolve). ¼ cup of this mixture in the rinse cycle of your washing machine is all you need to make your clothes soft.

4. Vinegar and hair conditioner.
You will need 2 cups of water, 1 cup of white vinegar and ½ cup of hair conditioner with your favorite fragrance. Mix well and store in a plastic bottle or jar. Add ¼ cup of this solution to your washer in the rinse cycle.
To perfume my fabric softeners I chose tea tree oil because I love its menthol aroma, but you can use lemon, rose, lavender or whichever essential oil you like the most.
In most cases, vinegar is the element that removes the mineral residues of the soap that make your clothes stiff. So, if one day you’re in a hurry and don’t have fabric softener on hand, ¼ cup of white vinegar in the rinse cycle of your washing machine is all you’ll need to soften your clothes.
