Eva Longoria is making huge strides in Hollywood from her film directorial debut with Flamin’ Hot to serving as an executive producer on Gordita Chronicles. Now she’ll be making her way back to being in front of the camera while still working as an executive producer on the Apple TV+ series Land of Women. Deadline reported that Apple TV+ ordered six episodes of the dramedy inspired by the best-selling novel La Tierra de la Mujeres by Spanish journalist and writer, Sandra Barneda. The series was created and written by Ramón Campos (Gran Hotel, Velvet) and Gema R. Neira (Now and Then, Velvet) and co-stars Carmen Maura (Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown). It centers on Gala (Longoria), an empty nester living in New York who has to leave her home after her husband implicates the family in financial improprieties. Joining her on the journey are her aging mother Julia (Maura) and her college-age daughter.
“Thrilled to be a part of ‘Land of Women’ and co-star alongside the iconic Carmen Maura💃🏻 España, nos vemos pronto!” Longoria posted on Instagram following the news.

The women seek to start anew and hope their identities will remain unknown, but gossip in the small town quickly spreads, unraveling their deepest family secrets and truths. The series is currently in pre-production in Spain and will be shot in both English and Spanish.
Maura, 76, is an award-winning Spanish actress who is known for her work with famed Spanish director and screenwriter Pedro Almodóvar. She won the Goya award for best actress, Spain’s equivalent to the Oscar, for her work in Almodóvar’s black comedy film Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown (1988). This series also marks Longoria’s return to a full-time role on TV since NBC’s comedy Telenovela which ran for one season in 2016. She’s also set to star in and produce Eva Longoria: Searching for Mexico on CNN in 2023.
No premiere date for Land of Women has been announced yet.
