It was announced that she’ll be a recurring character integral to the investigation of the murder of Sazz Pataki (Jane Lynch) on Only Murders in the Building on Hulu. She joins fellow Mexican American series regular Selena Gomez and Molly Shannon (The White Lotus), as the second new character announced for the fourth season of the popular, award-winning series. Longoria shared the news Feb. 22 in her Instagram story. “You guys I’m so excited for this,” she wrote, sharing the news story. Longoria’s character is high-powered Los Angeles businesswoman who finds herself drawn into the world of the investigation in New York, Deadline reported.
The 48-year-old will also star and executive produce in the Apple TV+ series Land of Women as Gala, a New York empty nester whose life is turned upside down when her husband implicates the family in financial improprieties, and she is forced to flee the city alongside her aging mother and college-age daughter. They flee to a city in northern Spain that Gala’s mother fled 50 years hoping their identities aren’t revealed by soon their secrets begin to unravel, according to a press release. The six-episode dramedy series is set to premiere in the summer in both English and Spanish.
Longoria will also produce and star in the TV adaptation of Isabel Allende’s bestselling novel The House of the Spirits for FilmNation Entertainment. She will play Blanca Trueba, the eldest daughter of Clara and Esteban who has a passionate love affair that endures through trials and tribulations. The novel spans four generations of women in the Trueba family. The film is currently in production and no premiere date has been set for the film.
She’s been vocal about the importance of Latinx representation in Hollywood as well as the responsibilities Latinx audiences have in showing up to support:
“If we don’t show up to things that are made by us, then the gatekeepers don’t see an economic benefit to continue making them. So, we, as the community, and as the audience, have to show up and support those projects and shows and creators and stars first and foremost,” she previously told The New Yorker.
No date has been announced for the premiere of season four of Only Murders in the Building.
