Latina powerhouse Gloria Calderón Kellett — executive producer/co-showrunner and director of One Day at a Time — signed a deal with Amazon and the first series that’s set to launch is romantic comedy With Love. GloNation Studios has an additional three series projects for development as part of the deal with Amazon, Deadline reported. Proving she can’t be boxed into one specific genre or style, the projects are wide-ranging including Shakespeare-themed high-school drama Verona, Glowing Up, a half-hour adult animation musical series based on the graphic novel Mismatched, a modern-day adaptation of Jane Austen’s Emma; and Dating the Lopez Ladies, a half-hour animated comedy.
“I started writing as a way to create characters and stories that represented myself and the community I love,” Calderón Kellett said in a statement. “After such a heavy year, there was nothing I wanted more than to see a happy, warm, loving family that looked like mine, celebrating trauma-free and falling in love. So, to be bringing that family to life as my first project with Amazon Studios feels especially personal and is incredibly exciting. I cannot wait to share With Love this holiday season!”

With Love follows siblings, Lily and Jorge Diaz, who are on a mission to find love and purpose, Deadline reported. They cross paths with seemingly unrelated residents during the holidays when the series is set to premiere.
“”With Love” Is the official title of my new show coming this holiday season. Can’t wait to bring a little love and joy to you all!” she wrote in a post on Instagram.
Latinx stories are front and center in her work with Verona following the Del Castillo sisters Nico, Delilah, and Inez while Glowing Up, a musical, is focused on out and proud Latino/Jew Evan Horowitz. We love that she’s showing how varied Latinidad can be (yes, there are Jewish Latinos!) while also telling LGBTQIA stories, which she did so beautifully through Elena in ODAAT. Calderón Kellett is the creator/writer/executive producer of Dating the Lopez Ladies about 25-year-old plus-sized powerhouse Ilana Lopez. She runs a successful comic strip about dating called Sharp Curves following the misadventures of her alter-ego Gabby who described as the “devil on her shoulder.” When Ilana’s mother, the 49-year-old glamorous divorcee, Sofia visits, she points out that fictional Gabby has more fun than real-life Ilana. This is the impetus for her and her friends to launch a date club and take their romantic conquests seriously and, feeling inspired by them, Sofia joins the clubs as well.
We’ve no doubt these shows are going to be nuanced and well-written while also being laugh out loud hilarious and touching because that is what we’ve come to expect from one of the leading Latinx storytellers in television.
