We’re half way through the year and Jennifer Lopez has already released a documentary, a musical film, an album, and starred in a number of films. In February she released her ninth studio album This Is Me… Now, a sequel to her third studio album This Is Me… Then from 2002, which was accompanied by This Is Me…Now: A Love Story, her musical film on Amazon Prime, which she co-wrote and starred in. She released an accompanying documentary, The Greatest Love Story Never Told, and also starred in the sci-fi film Atlas, released on Netflix back in May. Though she’s front and center in these projects, she’s also an established producer working behind the scenes including her latest project. She will be producing the series adaptation of the best-selling romance novel Happy Place as part of her first-look deal with Netflix. She will be producing the series through her production company Nuyorican Productions as well as Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas and her manager Benny Medina. Film and TV writer Leila Cohan, known for her work on Netflix’s Bridgerton, will write and showrun the series, according to Deadline.

“Can’t wait!” JLo said in an Instagram story announcing the news back in June.

Originally published in 2023, Happy Place tells the story of Harriet Kilpatrick and Wyn Connor, who appear to be the perfect couple since they first met and started dating in college. Except that, for whatever reason, their relationship fizzled out, they broke up and ended their engagement five months ago, and they still haven’t told their best friends – again, for a reason they can’t explain. That summer, they join their friends on a getaway to Maine, as has been the tradition for the past decade, so much so that they call it their “happy place.” But they find themselves sharing a bedroom at the cottage making for an awkward situation. Even then, they continue to lie to their friends about the truth behind their relationship, causing them to think more deeply about what they want, what love really means, and what their future looks like together. Henry posted about the news and shared that no one has been cast yet only sharing that the actors will be in their late 20s to early 30s.

“I always feel like the movies I do somehow mirror where I’m at in my life,” JLo said in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE.

The series is currently in development.
