Four years ago the Latinx podcasting space was barely on the rise and channels were hard to find. Fast forward to 2019 and not only are there more popping up every day but there is an entire blossoming community of podcasters that collaborate, uplift and support each other. The most beautiful thing about it is that now The Latinx podcast space is booming and there are so many programs to suit many if not all tastes. Unravel
When we think about clothes we tend to think about it in terms of what’s in and what’s not. But there are so many facets of the fashion industry that we never get to explore, simply because we lack the insider knowledge of how textiles are a part of history, how it’s influenced us socially, and why it’s yet another industry that impacts our daily lives. The Unravel podcast was started by fashion scholar Jasmine Helm and textile conservator Dana Goodin. Starting in 2015, they set out to change the way everyone understands and talks about fashion. One of the biggest barriers for women who are entrepreneurs or for women who want to start their own businesses is the lack of access to mentorships within their intended fields. According to Latina to Latina’s host Alicia Menendez, typically Latinas and WOC are over mentored and under sponsored. It’s also what drove her to create a podcast where Latina’s in areas of tech and business can give life-changing advice to the women who need it most. Just Be
Black women are the fastest growing group of entrepreneurs in the United States. But it’s no secret that Black-owned businesses are less likely to get VC funding and have access to the same resources that their white counterparts have available to them. The Just Be podcast was created to give a space for more Black female small business owners to share their experiences. It was started by three Black female entrepreneurs who wanted to make the voices of every day Black women business owners heard. They talk about the everyday realities of being a Black business owner, dealing with gentrification, capitalism, business tips, and mental health in their interviews with other Black women business owners.
