Selena Gomez Rocks a New Look in First Performance Since Kidney Transplant

Good news, SelGo fans! Selena Gomez has finally made her triumphant return to the public eye after her kidney transplant earlier this year. At last night’s American Music Awards, the Mexican-American singer and actress took the stage for a deeply moving and serious performance of her newest hit, “Wolves.” And, even better, the 25-year-old is looking better than ever.

She initially made headlines when appearing on the red carpet earlier in the evening sporting a brand new ‘do. Although she suffered a recent heartbreak (as did we all) when her and The Weeknd split, that didn’t stop her from looking her best in her biggest public appearance this year. In fact, her brand new blonde hair is clearly proof that getting a makeover is sometimes the best way to get over an ex. She’s out there like ‘new hair, who dis?’ And her unexpected look had fans on Twitter exploding with applause.

Exactly. Gomez has been open about her struggles and it’s important we all recognize they don’t just disappear – in fact, they’re often heightened – when she hits the stage.

The most inspiring part of her performance was how strong she was during the entire thing. In fact, earlier in the week, she took to Instagram to talk about how moving this moment is: “My first performance in over a year… the AMAs have been a place where I’ve shared some of my most intimate moments. Heart wants what it wants, after treatment and now Wolves. This Sunday.”

Fans were clearly happy to get their girl back and, despite some controversy over her performance, she did not disappoint. Welcome back to the spotlight, Selena!
