On New Year’s Eve, Selena got a huge shoutout by the University of Texas Longhorn Band. Associate Director of Bands Scott Hanna told mySA.com that he asked his musicians which song they wanted to play during the Allstate Sugar Bowl in New Orleans, and the result was a song by their native Texan queen, Selena. “We liked the idea of taking a part of home with us and showing everyone what we are about,” Hanna said.
The halftime show had their 300 member group spell out Selena on the field while playing “Como La Flor” and it was an amazing performance! Selena’s official Instagram account posted the video and captioned it with: We are proud that the University of Texas Longhorn Band @longhornband paid tribute to Selena at this year’s Sugarbowl halftime show held at the Mercedes Benz Superdome in New Orleans!
