Growing up with curly hair, I thought I only had two hairstyles I could rock: up or down. I believed that in order to have cute hair I had to straighten or curl it with a curling iron because I had no idea what to do with it. Fortunately, today there are SO MANY options and us curly-haired ladies have our pick of what styles are doable and best depending on our hair type. Here are seven of my favorites. What’s a look you love for your curly hair?
This look can be done in a variety of ways. But for the most part, you can achieve this pretty easily with just a hair tie or bobby pins and voila!
This look works best for medium to short hair. I rocked this when my curls were shoulder-length. If you’ve got long hair this might be harder to achieve depending on your texture.
High bun with laid baby hairs
A high bun is timeless and great for any occasion. This style is pretty straightforward and easy to pull off. The hard part for me has always been dealing with fly-aways and baby hairs. Fortunately, there are plenty of techniques and products made especially for that purpose.
Loose Curly Side Braid
On days when I only have time to refresh and go, this hairstyle is cute and quick. Plus who doesn’t love a good side braid?
Big Messy Bun
If you’re like me you see influencers IG models with those loose curl buns and wonder: “How do they get it to stay!?” Watch and learn ladies!
I absolutely love love love this look. It can be a little tricky if you’re not a french braider but it can also be done with twists instead of braids. It’s super cute! The tutorial starts at 6:46.
This one is versatile and pretty easy. Here we have another variation of the side braid and it’s stunning on wash n’ go curls at any length and texture.
