Selena Quintanilla Will Finally Get A Star On the Hollywood Walk of Fame

It has been 22 years since Selena Quintanilla died, and she will finally be honored with the 2,622nd star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. It’s kind of astonishing that people such as magician Criss Angel, Adam Levine, and Gary Sinise (from Forrest Gump) – whom are all great in their own right have a star– but, someone with legendary status like Selena didn’t have one. It’s so bizarre that it took this long for Selena to get a star on the Walk of Fame, posthumous of course, which makes it kind of sad.
“Selena deserves the star,” Edward James Olmos told Variety. “Her music stands the test of time. She was a brilliant artist. I just wish she were here. It’s not fair.”
It’s totally not fair! And I would be in tears if I were there. I am almost certain her hardcore fans will be there bawling their eyes out.
The big day will be on Fri., Nov. 3, at 6:30 (PDT), 1750 N. Vine Street in front of the historic Capitol Records Building.
Accepting on her behalf will be her mom and dad, sister Suzette, along with Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and actress Eva Longoria.
“Since day one of Selena’s selection into the Walk of Fame, not a day went by that we were not asked by fans when Selena would get her star. This day has come and fans from around the world will rejoice in her well-deserved honor,” Ana Martinez, Producer of the Walk of Fame ceremonies said in a press release. “The Hollywood Walk of Fame honor is the only award which fans can share with their favorite icons. Without a doubt Selena’s star will be experienced by millions of her loyal fans for years to come!”
Selena is having a pretty amazing week. She was honored with a Google Doodle, and now this? Get it girl!!!
Will you guys be there to see Selena’s legacy be honored?
